COSPLAY CONTEST

Join the competition at Expo Gameri 2025 and register in one of the two categories offered:

• Gaming themed category or
• General thematic category.

Cosplay competitors will present their costumes to the panel of judges at JUDGING on Saturday, May 31, 2025 at around 3 p.m. (all details will be announced via email to competitors).

The Cosplay Show in front of the audience and judges will take place on Saturday, May 31, 2025 in the evening. After the Show, the audience will vote for their favorites, while the judging panel will choose their winner in each category.

Applications for the Cosplay competition are required via the application form (below the rules), and are open until May 25, 2025 (11:59 p.m.).

The competition application includes a participation fee of €15. The Stripe payment system is activated at the last step of the application. It is not possible to complete the application without paying for the ticket. By paying this participation fee, you will receive a weekend ticket for yourself and one (1) assistant at Expo Gamera.

Who can apply:

• People with costumes they made themselves,
• People with costumes that they have already shown at other conventions or events,
• People with purchased costume components (not the entire costume).

Application process:

• You must attach 1 (one) reference photo of the character you are cosplaying to the application form. This photo will be included in the application for audience voting and will be displayed on stage during the contestant's performance in the Cosplay Show - so please attach a high-quality photo in 16:9 format
• It is mandatory to include 1 (one) musical OR video background for the performance in the application.
• Stage performances by each contestant last a maximum of 2 minutes. Your background music or video file MUST be trimmed and last a maximum of 2 minutes!

Judging rules and judging panel:

• The panel consists of 3 people selected by the organizers, mostly international Cosplay artists.
• The panel must not be biased towards any competitor.
• The panel and organizers reserve the right not to award a prize or prizes without further explanation.
• Competitors have a very limited time to present their costume and answer the judges' questions, so we ask everyone to respect the given restrictions and be ready (in costume) for judging at the given time, which will be announced in advance and communicated to all competitors.

Awards and titles:

• A panel of judges awards one prize for each of the competition categories, and the audience selects one favorite from both categories.
• The organizers and the panel of judges reserve the right to award multiple prizes, not award a prize in any category without explanation, or award a prize for something other than stated, depending on the circumstances, the quantity and quality of competitors, and the available budget.

The organizers and the panel of judges reserve the right to disqualify competitors in the event of:

• Insufficiently high quality masks, unfinished masks or other circumstances that detract from the efforts of other competitors.
• Abuse of social networks or the audience voting system in a way that directly or indirectly violates the right of all competitors to equal competition conditions,
• Insulting, violating privacy or harassing other competitors, convention visitors or the organizing team, volunteers and judging panel.
• That the competitors are closely connected, i.e. in a conflict of interest, with persons on the competition judging panel.

The organizers and the panel of judges have the right to subsequently withdraw the prize (publicly and by returning the gift package) if it turns out that the contestant violated these conditions, i.e., intentionally violated the values of the competition and the right of all contestants to fair and equal competition.

The contestant with the next highest score from the judging panel wins the prize in that case, if possible.
